01

The story

Elin sells furniture across four European markets. Her products have names — The Hadley, The Brune — and beautiful photography. Her dimensions live in a collapsed tab, her assembly information in a PDF, and her German storefront carries English meta descriptions on every page.

Furniture buyers search by constraint and by room: a three-seater under two metres, a desk for a narrow alcove, a bed that fits through a Victorian doorway. They also research for weeks and buy late, which means being findable early matters more than in almost any other category.

She surfaced dimensions into descriptions, reframed collection pages around rooms and constraints, published the delivery and assembly questions as FAQ schema, and localized the metadata her translated storefronts had never received.

02

When SEO decides the sale

Three beats. Everything StoreSEO does on this page is aimed at the gap between the second and the third.

  1. 1

    The search

Furniture is searched by room, by dimension and by style, almost never by product name.

  2. 2

    The measurement

The buyer has a wall, an alcove or a doorway with a number attached, and that number is in the query.

  3. 3

    The decision

Weeks later. The store that answered the dimension question is the one still bookmarked.

03

What a store like this actually needs

01

Dimensions in the indexable copy

Width, depth, height, doorway clearance and assembled size are the query. A collapsed tab or a spec image cannot match one.

02

Room and constraint language

Small living room, narrow hallway, low ceiling. People search the space they have, not the category name.

03

Per-market metadata

Furniture sells internationally and translated storefronts routinely keep English SEO fields, quietly forfeiting entire markets.

04

The fix

Three StoreSEO capabilities that do most of the work here. Each links to the guide that sets it up.

Collection page optimization

Room and constraint category pages are the highest-value furniture URLs and are usually the least optimized.

Optimize translated products

Scores and rewrites translated pages in their own language rather than judging them against the English original.

FAQ schema

Publishes delivery, assembly and dimension answers as structured data on the products they concern.

The exact prompt

Connect your store via the StoreSEO MCP server or the AI Toolkit, then paste this into Claude or ChatGPT. It is written for this business, not as a generic template.

Copy & paste
Using StoreSEO, my furniture products are named rather than described and my dimensions sit in a collapsed tab. Rewrite descriptions and meta content so each item states its width, depth, height and assembled dimensions in text, and optimize my collection pages around rooms and constraints such as small spaces and narrow hallways. Add FAQ schema for delivery, assembly and dimensions, then check my translated storefronts and localize any metadata still in English.

What happens: Your assistant makes measurements and room language searchable, and fixes the translated markets where the SEO layer never got localized.

06

Questions

Why do my furniture pages not rank for size-based searches?

Because the size is not in text a crawler can associate with the page. Dimensions inside a collapsed tab, a spec image or a PDF are effectively invisible. Stating width, depth, height and assembled size in the description and FAQ schema makes the page eligible for the dimension queries that dominate the category.

We sell in several European markets. What usually goes wrong?

The storefront translates but the SEO fields do not. Meta titles, descriptions and alt text stay English, so the translated pages match nothing local. Optimizing translated products in their own language, with locally researched keywords rather than literal translations, is what recovers those markets.
