The story
Marcus runs an independent sneaker and footwear shop with about 1,400 SKUs. He cannot outrank a marketplace for a bare model name and he stopped trying years ago. What frustrates him is losing the searches he should win — the wide fits, the half sizes, the discontinued colourways he still has in the back.
The problem was that his product pages did not contain any of those words. Sizes and widths lived in variant dropdowns, invisible to a crawler reading the page. His descriptions were two lines of manufacturer marketing. The specific query that should have found him matched nothing.
Bringing fit language into the description and the metadata, adding FAQ schema for the sizing question, and describing every product image changed which searches he showed up for. Not the head terms. The ones that convert.
