Audit your store's SEO with NanoClaw
Auditing your Shopify SEO with NanoClaw means texting your own self-hosted agent a question in the chat app you already use, so it reads your StoreSEO scores in its container and replies with a ranked list of what to fix first.

Set up NanoClaw for StoreSEO
Skip this if NanoClaw is already connected. The full guide, with the alternatives, is on the NanoClaw page.
- 1
Create a StoreSEO access token
In the StoreSEO app open Settings, AI Toolkit and generate a personal access token. Keep it out of chat messages and out of Git.
new message to NanoClawSettings → AI Toolkit → create a token
- 2
Add StoreSEO to your agent's container
Run this on the machine that hosts NanoClaw, using your agent group's ID from ncl groups list. The header goes in as a JSON object. NanoClaw may ask an admin to approve the change.
terminalncl groups config add-mcp-server --id <group-id> --name storeseo \ --url https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp \ --headers '{"Authorization":"Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"}' - 3
Restart the agent's container
The new server takes effect after a restart. Then message your agent with its trigger word, @Andy by default, and ask for your store's SEO score.
terminalncl groups restart --id <group-id>
Step-by-step guide in the docs: How to connect StoreSEO MCP to NanoClaw
How does this work in NanoClaw?
You are in a chat thread, not a dashboard. Open WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack or Discord, write the agent's trigger word, which is @Andy unless you renamed it, and ask where your store stands. The agent calls storeseo_start, which returns the conversation id every other StoreSEO tool needs plus a snapshot of how many resources are optimized, need improvement or are not optimized. It then calls storeseo_list_resources sorted by score, lowest first, and storeseo_get_resource_seo on the worst few. The reply arrives as a short chat message, so ask for a top five rather than a full catalogue, because a long listing is hard to read on a phone.
All three of those calls only read. Whether your fork stops to ask before running any tool at all depends on how you and your admins configured it, so on a fresh install you may see no prompt, and on a locked down one you may see a request every time. Either way the audit itself changes nothing in your store. Ask the agent to split its answer into fixes StoreSEO can generate, such as meta text and alt text, and fixes only you can make in the StoreSEO app, such as setting a focus keyword. That split tells you whether the next message should be a preview request or a trip to the app.
The audit also fits NanoClaw's scheduled tasks. Create one with ncl tasks create and a cron recurrence such as every Monday at 8:00, and write the prompt as audit only. A scheduled task has no chat attached, so the prompt must name where the result goes, for example send it to Telegram. Because nobody is present to say yes when the task runs, keep preview and apply out of it. Read the Monday message, pick two or three products, and start a normal chat to fix them.
-
You: @Andy use StoreSEO to audit my store and tell me where to start.
- storeseo_start read-only
- storeseo_list_resources read-only
- storeseo_get_resource_seo read-only
-
NanoClaw: Illustrative result: 38 of your 120 products are not optimized, and the five lowest score between 14 and 29. Four lack a meta description and image alt text. One has no focus keyword, which you set in the StoreSEO app. Start with the Linen Shirt?
-
You: Yes, but only look at it for now.

What StoreSEO does: store seo audit
StoreSEO scores every product, collection, page and blog post against its SEO checklist, and scores products for AI readiness (GEO) as well. An agent opens a session, lists the weakest resources first and reads the per-criterion analysis for each, so you get a ranked worklist instead of a dashboard to click through.
- 1
Open a StoreSEO session
The agent calls the start tool first. It returns a conversation id every later call needs, plus a snapshot of your store: how many resources are optimized, need improvement or are not optimized, image status, rank tracking and which features are set up.
- 2
List the weakest resources
It lists products, collections, pages or articles sorted by score, lowest first, or filtered to the ones marked not optimized. Products also carry a GEO score and their AI-readiness issues.
- 3
Read the checklist for each one
For each candidate it reads the full SEO record: current meta fields, focus keyword, score, every criterion that passes or fails, image status, FAQs and AI snippet.
- 4
Sort fixes by who can make them
It separates what a StoreSEO tool can fix (meta, handle, FAQs, AI snippet, image alt text, schema) from what only you can change in the app or in Shopify admin (the focus keyword, the product title, category, inventory).
- 5
Report a worklist
You get the resources in order, with the failing criteria in plain words and one suggested next fix. Nothing is written during an audit.

Rules NanoClaw follows
- Every audit call is a read and runs straight away; nothing in this job changes your store.
- The agent describes criteria by their visible title, never by internal identifiers or raw status values.
- Criteria no tool can fix, such as choosing the focus keyword, are handed to you with a link into the StoreSEO app rather than guessed.
- The agent should offer one next fix at a time, tied to what it just found, instead of dumping the whole list as a checklist.
In NanoClaw
NanoClaw adds the StoreSEO server to one agent group at a time, so an audit asked in a chat that belongs to a different group will not find the tools. Add the server to every group you message from, and restart each group's container with ncl groups restart before expecting the audit to work. Also remember the token sits in that group's container configuration on your host, so treat the machine like a password.
What runs without asking. Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client's own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.
Questions
Can I run the StoreSEO audit from my phone with NanoClaw?
Yes. Message your agent with its trigger word from WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack or Discord, and it calls the StoreSEO read tools and replies in the same thread. The audit tools only read your scores, so ask for a short top five that fits a phone screen.
Will a NanoClaw scheduled audit change anything in my store?
Not if you word the prompt as read only. StoreSEO tells the agent to wait for your yes before writing, but a scheduled task has nobody to answer, so keep preview and apply out of it and name the chat destination in the prompt.
Does an SEO audit change anything in my store?
No. The audit uses read-only tools: the session start, the resource list and the per-resource SEO record. Your store is only changed later, by a separate step you agree to.
What is the difference between the SEO score and the GEO score?
The SEO score measures a resource against StoreSEO's on-page checklist for search engines. The GEO score applies to products only and measures how ready the product is for AI shopping agents and generative search, using criteria such as FAQs, an AI snippet, alt text and product schema.
Can the agent choose my focus keyword?
No tool can set the focus keyword. The agent can tell you when the keyword is missing or looks wrong and give you a link to set it in the StoreSEO app, and several fixes such as keyword clusters and description writing need it set first.
How many products can the agent audit at once?
The listing is paginated, so the agent can walk your whole catalog page by page. In practice it is more useful to ask for the lowest scores first and work down from there.
