Grok Bot Store SEO audit

Audit your store's SEO with Grok Bot

Running a store SEO audit with Grok Bot means giving one of xAI's named Bots the StoreSEO plugin and a standing question, so it reads your product, collection, page and post scores on its cloud computer and hands you a ranked worklist, even on days you never open the app.

Set up Grok Bot for StoreSEO

Skip this if Grok Bot is already connected. The full guide, with the alternatives, is on the Grok Bot page.

  1. 1

Ask your Bot to add StoreSEO

In a chat with your Bot, ask it to add a custom remote HTTPS MCP server with this URL. xAI's documentation says a plugin added from your own chat is personal and account-wide, so every Bot on your account can use it. Complete the StoreSEO sign-in when the browser opens: pick your Shopify store and approve access.

    Prompt
Add a custom remote HTTPS MCP server called StoreSEO with the URL https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp and sign me in.
  2. 2

Attach it and check it works

In a chat, type @ to attach the StoreSEO connector to the task, then ask this to confirm the connection.

    Prompt
Use @StoreSEO to show me my store's SEO score breakdown.
02

How does this work in Grok Bot?

You work in a chat with one of your Bots, in the desktop or mobile app, and type @ to attach StoreSEO to the task. The first message can be as short as audit my store and tell me where to start. The Bot calls storeseo_start, which returns the conversation id every other StoreSEO tool needs plus a snapshot of how many resources are optimized, need improvement or are not optimized. It then calls storeseo_list_resources with the lowest scores first and storeseo_get_resource_seo on the worst candidates. All three are reads, although Grok Bot may still put its own Allow once, Always allow or Deny prompt in front of a tool the first time you use it.

What makes this different from a chat assistant is that the audit can be a habit instead of a request. Because a Bot keeps its context and works on a persistent cloud computer, you can ask it to turn the same question into a routine: every Monday, list the weakest products, sort the fixes into what StoreSEO can generate and what only you can change in the app, and post the result in the conversation. The Bot shows you the next run time when it creates the routine, and the routine's recent run records show what it reported before, so you can tell whether the worklist is shrinking from week to week.

Because nobody is watching a scheduled run, word the routine as audit only. The audit tools need no approval from StoreSEO's side, but a routine that is also allowed to preview or apply content would have no one to say yes. Keep the audit as the first half of a loop where you read the Monday report, pick two or three items, and then start a normal chat to preview and apply the fixes with the Bot waiting for you.

  1. You: Use @StoreSEO to audit my store and tell me where to start.

  2. storeseo_start read-only
  3. storeseo_list_resources read-only
  4. storeseo_get_resource_seo read-only
  5. Grok Bot: Illustrative result: 38 of your 120 products are not optimized, and the six lowest score between 14 and 29. Five lack a meta description and image alt text. One has no focus keyword, which you set in the StoreSEO app. Should I turn this check into a Monday routine that reports only?

  6. You: Yes, report only.

03

What to ask Grok Bot

Prompt 1
Use @StoreSEO to rank my ten weakest products, name the biggest failing check on each and say which ones only I can fix in the app.
Prompt 2
Create a routine for every Monday at 8:00 AM: use @StoreSEO to audit products, collections and pages, post the worst ten with their issues here, and change nothing.
Prompt 3
Show me the last three reports from my SEO routine and tell me which products keep appearing in the worst ten.
  • Show me my ten lowest-scoring products and the top issue on each.
  • Which collections are not optimized yet, and what is failing on them?
  • Give me an SEO audit of my blog posts, worst first.
  • Which products have the weakest GEO score for AI shopping agents, and why?
  • Summarize my store's SEO: how many products, collections, pages and posts are optimized?
  • For the product Linen Shirt, list every failing SEO criterion and say which ones StoreSEO can fix.

What StoreSEO does: store seo audit

StoreSEO scores every product, collection, page and blog post against its SEO checklist, and scores products for AI readiness (GEO) as well. An agent opens a session, lists the weakest resources first and reads the per-criterion analysis for each, so you get a ranked worklist instead of a dashboard to click through.

  1. 1

    Open a StoreSEO session

The agent calls the start tool first. It returns a conversation id every later call needs, plus a snapshot of your store: how many resources are optimized, need improvement or are not optimized, image status, rank tracking and which features are set up.

  2. 2

    List the weakest resources

It lists products, collections, pages or articles sorted by score, lowest first, or filtered to the ones marked not optimized. Products also carry a GEO score and their AI-readiness issues.

  3. 3

Read the checklist for each one

For each candidate it reads the full SEO record: current meta fields, focus keyword, score, every criterion that passes or fails, image status, FAQs and AI snippet.

  4. 4

Sort fixes by who can make them

It separates what a StoreSEO tool can fix (meta, handle, FAQs, AI snippet, image alt text, schema) from what only you can change in the app or in Shopify admin (the focus keyword, the product title, category, inventory).

  5. 5

    Report a worklist

You get the resources in order, with the failing criteria in plain words and one suggested next fix. Nothing is written during an audit.

Rules Grok Bot follows

  • Every audit call is a read and runs straight away; nothing in this job changes your store.
  • The agent describes criteria by their visible title, never by internal identifiers or raw status values.
  • Criteria no tool can fix, such as choosing the focus keyword, are handed to you with a link into the StoreSEO app rather than guessed.
  • The agent should offer one next fix at a time, tied to what it just found, instead of dumping the whole list as a checklist.

In Grok Bot

A routine only helps if its wording stays at report only. Grok Bot's documentation says a Test run performs real work and calls connected tools, so test the audit routine while it contains reads alone. If you later extend the same routine to preview or apply content, an Always allow rule on a StoreSEO write tool removes the second check in the client, and StoreSEO's instruction to wait for your yes becomes the only brake. Keep audit routines and fix conversations separate.

What runs without asking. Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client's own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.

Questions

Can a Grok Bot run my StoreSEO audit while my laptop is closed?

Yes. A routine runs on the Bot's cloud computer on its schedule, and background routines can run while your laptop is closed. Word it as audit only, because a scheduled run has nobody to answer an approval prompt.

Does the audit use any AI credit?

The audit tools storeseo_start, storeseo_list_resources and storeseo_get_resource_seo only read your scores and checklists. Credit is spent later, when you ask for a preview or a generated file.

Does an SEO audit change anything in my store?

No. The audit uses read-only tools: the session start, the resource list and the per-resource SEO record. Your store is only changed later, by a separate step you agree to.

What is the difference between the SEO score and the GEO score?

The SEO score measures a resource against StoreSEO's on-page checklist for search engines. The GEO score applies to products only and measures how ready the product is for AI shopping agents and generative search, using criteria such as FAQs, an AI snippet, alt text and product schema.

Can the agent choose my focus keyword?

No tool can set the focus keyword. The agent can tell you when the keyword is missing or looks wrong and give you a link to set it in the StoreSEO app, and several fixes such as keyword clusters and description writing need it set first.

How many products can the agent audit at once?

The listing is paginated, so the agent can walk your whole catalog page by page. In practice it is more useful to ask for the lowest scores first and work down from there.
