Get products ready for AI search with Grok Bot
Getting products ready for AI search with Grok Bot means asking a Bot to read each product's GEO score through StoreSEO, fix what a tool can fix, and rewrite a thin description after you answer StoreSEO's questions about the product.

Set up Grok Bot for StoreSEO
Skip this if Grok Bot is already connected. The full guide, with the alternatives, is on the Grok Bot page.
- 1
Ask your Bot to add StoreSEO
In a chat with your Bot, ask it to add a custom remote HTTPS MCP server with this URL. xAI's documentation says a plugin added from your own chat is personal and account-wide, so every Bot on your account can use it. Complete the StoreSEO sign-in when the browser opens: pick your Shopify store and approve access.
PromptAdd a custom remote HTTPS MCP server called StoreSEO with the URL https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp and sign me in.
- 2
Attach it and check it works
In a chat, type @ to attach the StoreSEO connector to the task, then ask this to confirm the connection.
PromptUse @StoreSEO to show me my store's SEO score breakdown.
How does this work in Grok Bot?
The GEO score measures how well AI shopping agents can understand a product, and it applies to products only. You attach StoreSEO with @ and ask the Bot which products are weakest for AI readiness. It calls storeseo_start, which includes a GEO overview, then storeseo_get_resource_seo on a product to read the failing criteria. Some of those are fixable by tools, such as FAQs, the AI snippet, image alt text and product schema, and others, such as the title, category and price, you change in Shopify or the StoreSEO app. A good Bot says which is which for each product.
The description rewrite is the part where a Bot is more than a relay. storeseo_scan_product_description scores seven pillars and returns gap questions, and the Bot must put them to you word for word and in order, then pass your answers to storeseo_write_product_description. In a Grok Bot chat that is a short back and forth where you answer in your own words about materials, dimensions and care. The Bot has a filesystem on its cloud computer, so you can also ask it to save the old description to a file before the write, since the response returns the previous text once and StoreSEO keeps no history.
Both the scan and the write are guarded in practice by your approval choices, and you should treat them differently. The scan and a preview spend credit but save nothing. The write replaces the live description at once with no undo. Do that one product at a time in a conversation, and keep it out of routines. A routine is fine for a weekly look at the GEO scores, worded as report only.
-
You: Use @StoreSEO to get my Linen Throw ready for AI shopping agents.
- storeseo_start read-only
- storeseo_get_resource_seo read-only
-
Grok Bot: The description is thin. A scan spends AI credit and saves nothing. Should I scan it and ask you the questions?
-
You: Yes, scan it.
- storeseo_scan_product_description preview
-
Grok Bot: Illustrative questions follow, starting with what the throw is made of. Once you answer, I can write the description, which replaces the live one with no undo. Want me to save the old text to a file first and then write it?
-
You: Yes, save it first and write it.
- storeseo_write_product_description needs approval
What to ask Grok Bot
Use @StoreSEO to list my five products with the lowest GEO score and say which failing criteria a tool can fix.
Scan the description of my Linen Throw product, ask me the gap questions word for word, and save the current description to a file before writing anything.
Preview FAQs and an AI snippet for my three weakest products and wait for my yes before applying each.
- Which of my products have the lowest GEO score, and what is missing for AI shopping agents?
- Make the product Merino Beanie ready for AI search: FAQs, AI snippet and product schema. Preview first.
- Scan the description of my best seller for AI agents and ask me the questions it needs.
- Rewrite the description of Ceramic Pour Over from my answers. Keep a copy of the old one for me.
- Is product JSON-LD schema enabled on my store? If not, explain what turning it on changes.
What StoreSEO does: ai search readiness
GEO is StoreSEO's AI readiness score for products. The agent reads which GEO criteria fail, fixes the ones a tool can fix (FAQs, AI snippet, alt text, product schema), and can rewrite a thin description from your own answers to StoreSEO's questions.
Requires: FAQs, AI snippets and descriptions spend AI Content Optimizer credit. The product needs a focus keyword, set in the StoreSEO app, before a description scan or rewrite.
- 1
Read the GEO checklist
The agent reads the product's GEO block: the score and every AI-readiness criterion that passes or fails.
- 2
Turn on product schema if it is off
Product JSON-LD is a shop-wide setting, so enabling it clears that criterion for every product at once. If you then decide not to apply the rest, the agent switches back off only the schema it turned on.
- 3
Preview FAQs and the AI snippet
The preview generates FAQs and an AI snippet (summary, benefits, best for) and projects the new SEO and GEO scores without saving.
- 4
Scan the description
For a thin or missing description, StoreSEO scores it on seven pillars (identity, materials, dimensions, features, use cases, what is included, care) and returns questions. The agent asks you each one, word for word.
- 5
Write and apply
With your answers, StoreSEO writes the description and saves it immediately; the response holds the only copy of the old text. The previewed FAQs and snippet are applied after your yes.

Rules Grok Bot follows
- The scan's questions go to you word for word and in order; the agent does not answer them for you.
- A description is only written without questions when you decline to answer or authorize a bulk run without them.
- Writing a description replaces the current one at once with no undo, so the agent asks first and keeps the old text the response returns.
- If the agent enabled product schema for this flow and you stop before applying, it turns that schema back off; it never disables a schema you already had on.
- Criteria only you can fix get one link to the product's fix page, not a link per criterion.
In Grok Bot
storeseo_write_product_description saves immediately and cannot be undone, so it is the one tool where an Always allow rule in Grok Bot costs the most. With that rule the client no longer pauses, and StoreSEO's own request to wait for your yes is the only check left. Keep it on Allow once or an Ask first rule in Auto-review. The product also needs a focus keyword set in the StoreSEO app before a scan, so a Bot cannot fix that for you.
What runs without asking. Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client's own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.
Questions
Does Grok Bot answer the description questions for me?
It should not. StoreSEO tells the agent to put the scan's questions to you word for word and in order. If you decline to answer, or authorize a bulk run without questions, the write can proceed without them.
Can I get the old description back after a Grok Bot rewrite?
Only from the copy returned by the write call, because StoreSEO keeps no history. Ask the Bot to save that text to a file on its cloud computer before it writes, and to show it to you afterwards.
What is a GEO score in StoreSEO?
GEO is StoreSEO's AI readiness score for products. It measures how well a product can be understood by AI shopping agents and generative search, using criteria such as FAQs, an AI snippet, image alt text, product schema and the quality of the description.
Can I undo a rewritten product description?
Not inside StoreSEO. The new description is saved immediately and StoreSEO keeps no revision history. The response returns the previous description once, so ask the agent to keep it for you before it writes.
Why does the agent ask me questions before writing a description?
StoreSEO scans the description on seven pillars and returns questions for the facts it cannot infer, such as materials or what is in the box. Your answers become stated facts in the new copy instead of guesses.
Does enabling product schema affect every product?
Yes. Product JSON-LD is a shop-wide setting, so turning it on clears that criterion for every product at once, and turning it off removes it everywhere.
