Grok Bot Blog post drafts

Write SEO blog post drafts with Grok Bot

Drafting blog posts with Grok Bot means asking a Bot to have StoreSEO write a complete draft article in one of your Shopify blogs, watch the background job until it finishes, and then read the draft's SEO checklist before you publish anything yourself.

Set up Grok Bot for StoreSEO

Skip this if Grok Bot is already connected. The full guide, with the alternatives, is on the Grok Bot page.

  1. 1

Ask your Bot to add StoreSEO

In a chat with your Bot, ask it to add a custom remote HTTPS MCP server with this URL. xAI's documentation says a plugin added from your own chat is personal and account-wide, so every Bot on your account can use it. Complete the StoreSEO sign-in when the browser opens: pick your Shopify store and approve access.

    Prompt
Add a custom remote HTTPS MCP server called StoreSEO with the URL https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp and sign me in.
  2. 2

Attach it and check it works

In a chat, type @ to attach the StoreSEO connector to the task, then ask this to confirm the connection.

    Prompt
Use @StoreSEO to show me my store's SEO score breakdown.

How does this work in Grok Bot?

A blog post takes StoreSEO a few minutes to write, which is an odd fit for a chat that wants an answer now and a natural fit for a Bot that keeps working. You attach StoreSEO with @ and give a brief: the topic, the audience, a target word count and whether you want a featured image. The Bot calls storeseo_start, then storeseo_list_blogs to find the numeric id of the blog, since only blogs synced in the StoreSEO app are listed. It states the credit cost, which grows with word count and a featured image, and asks for your yes before storeseo_generate_blog_post.

After that, the Bot polls storeseo_get_blog_post_job until the job is completed, failed or cancelled, and reports progress as steps completed out of total. The draft article exists from the start of the run, so a careful Bot does not describe it as finished while the job is still going. Waiting on the Bot's cloud computer means you can close the app and come back to a finished draft in the conversation. When the job completes, the Bot can call storeseo_get_resource_seo with the article's Shopify id to read how the draft scores.

The post is only ever a draft. You review it and publish it from Shopify admin, which is a step the Bot cannot take. Keep generation out of routines: each run spends credit, and a scheduled Bot would produce drafts nobody asked for. A better routine is a monthly reminder to suggest three topics from your Search Console queries, with the generating done later in a chat where you approve the cost.

  1. You: Use @StoreSEO to write a post about caring for linen bedding.

  2. storeseo_start read-only
  3. storeseo_list_blogs read-only
  4. Grok Bot: I found a blog called News. A post with a featured image spends AI Content Optimizer credit, more for a longer post, and it is saved as a draft only. Should I start it?

  5. You: Yes, start it.

  6. storeseo_generate_blog_post needs approval
  7. storeseo_get_blog_post_job read-only
  8. Grok Bot: Still running, step 3 of 6. I will check again and tell you when the draft is ready to review.

What to ask Grok Bot

Prompt 1
Use @StoreSEO to list my blogs, then tell me the credit cost of a 1,200 word post about caring for linen bedding before you write it.
Prompt 2
Write that post as a draft in the News blog with a featured image, wait until the job finishes, then tell me the SEO score of the draft.
Prompt 3
Suggest three blog topics from my Search Console queries with @StoreSEO. Suggest only, do not generate anything.
  • List my blogs and write a 1,200 word draft on how to care for linen shirts in the News blog. Tell me the cost first.
  • Write a draft post targeting best gifts for coffee lovers, with a featured image.
  • How far along is the blog post you started?
  • Check the SEO score of the draft you just wrote.
  • Draft three post ideas for my store and write the strongest one.

What StoreSEO does: blog post drafts

StoreSEO writes a full blog post with AI and saves it as a draft article in the Shopify blog you choose, optionally with a featured image. Nothing is published: you review and publish from Shopify admin.

Requires: Spends AI Content Optimizer credit; the cost grows with word count and a featured image. Blogs must be synced in the StoreSEO app.

  1. 1

    Pick the blog

The agent lists your synced blogs, the sections posts go into, with their ids. An empty list means the blogs need syncing in the StoreSEO app first.

  2. 2

    Agree the brief and cost

Topic, keyword, length and whether to add a featured image. The cost grows with length and the image, so the agent tells you and waits for your yes.

  3. 3

    Generate in the background

Writing takes a few minutes. The agent polls the job and reports progress, and does not present the post as finished while it runs.

  4. 4

    Check the draft

When the job completes, the agent can read the draft article's SEO record. You review and publish the post from Shopify admin.

Output A draft article in the chosen Shopify blog, never published live
Featured image Optional; uploaded with the draft and adds to the cost
Run time A few minutes in the background
Insufficient credit The call fails before anything is queued or spent
Blogs Only blogs synced with StoreSEO are listed; syncing is done in the app
Failed runs The job reports the error and credits are settled automatically

Rules Grok Bot follows

  • The agent states the expected credit use and waits for your yes before it starts a post.
  • Posts are saved as drafts only; publishing is done by you in Shopify admin.
  • While the job runs, the agent reports progress and never presents the draft as finished.

In Grok Bot

Each storeseo_generate_blog_post call spends credit, so a routine that generates posts would burn credit on every run, and a Test run performs real work too. With Always allow saved on that tool, the client no longer asks before each post, leaving StoreSEO's cost-first instruction as the only check. Keep generation in a conversation on Allow once or Ask first, and publish the draft yourself in Shopify admin.

What runs without asking. Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client's own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.

Questions

Can Grok Bot publish the blog post for me?

No. StoreSEO saves the post as a draft in your Shopify blog and never publishes it live. You review it and publish it from Shopify admin.

What happens if I close the app while the post is generating?

The job runs in the background on StoreSEO's side, and the Bot works on a cloud computer, so it can keep polling. Ask for the job status when you return and treat the draft as unfinished until it completes.

Will the agent publish a blog post on my store?

No. StoreSEO saves generated posts as drafts in the Shopify blog you choose. You review and publish them from Shopify admin.

How long does a blog post take?

A few minutes. The writing runs in the background and the agent checks the job until it is completed, failed or cancelled.

What does a blog post cost?

It spends AI Content Optimizer credit, and the amount grows with the word count and with a featured image. If you do not have enough credit the call fails before anything is spent.

Why does the agent say I have no blogs?

Only blogs synced with StoreSEO are listed. Sync your blogs in the StoreSEO app, then ask again.
