ChatGPT dots Blog post drafts

Write SEO blog post drafts with ChatGPT dots

Drafting blog posts with a ChatGPT dot means asking an always-on agent to start a StoreSEO generation, wait out the several minutes it takes and report on the saved draft, with the decision to spend the credit made by you in a chat.

Set up ChatGPT dots for StoreSEO

Skip this if ChatGPT dots is already connected. The full guide, with the alternatives, is on the ChatGPT dots page.

  1. 1

Create the StoreSEO app in ChatGPT

OpenAI's help center says plugins are shared across dots and ChatGPT, so you set StoreSEO up once. In ChatGPT on the web, turn on Developer mode under Settings, Security and login, open Plugins, select the plus button and create an app named StoreSEO with this MCP server URL and OAuth. Sign in when the browser asks: pick your Shopify store and approve access. If ChatGPT already has the StoreSEO app, skip this step.

    URL
    https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp
  2. 2

Make sure your dot can see it

Open your dot's profile, then Customize and Plugins, and check StoreSEO is connected. Then give your dot a first task that names StoreSEO.

    Prompt
Using StoreSEO, show me my store's SEO score breakdown.

How does this work in ChatGPT dots?

Blog generation is slow by design, and that suits an agent that does not need you to babysit a spinner. You pick a blog with storeseo_list_blogs, which returns the numeric id the generator needs and only lists blogs synced with StoreSEO. You ask for a post, the agent names the cost, and after your yes storeseo_generate_blog_post queues a job and returns a job_id. The post is written as a draft in your Shopify blog and nothing goes live. The dot then polls storeseo_get_blog_post_job, reporting steps completed out of total, until the job is completed, failed or cancelled.

The dot adds something at the end. Once the job completes, it calls storeseo_get_resource_seo on the article, using the Shopify article id from the job payload, and tells you the SEO score and what still fails: a short meta description, no focus keyword in the title, images missing alt text. Then you open the draft in Shopify admin to read and publish it, because the draft only exists as a draft.

Do not schedule the generation itself. Cost grows with word count and a featured image, so a weekly timer that writes a post spends credit every week on drafts nobody asked for. A better pattern is a scheduled read: have the dot list your articles with storeseo_list_resources, resource type article, sorted by score, and report the posts whose SEO is weakest. Write new posts, and rewrite old ones, in a conversation.

ChatGPT dots + StoreSEO Illustrative session
  1. You: Write a post on caring for linen, 1,200 words, in my News blog.

  2. storeseo_list_blogs read-only
  3. ChatGPT dots: News is synced. This spends AI credit, more with a featured image, and it saves a draft only. Start it?

  4. You: Yes, start it.

  5. storeseo_generate_blog_post needs approval
  6. storeseo_get_blog_post_job read-only
  7. ChatGPT dots: The job is at step 4 of 6. When it completes I will check the draft's SEO score.

What to ask ChatGPT dots

Prompt 1
List my blogs with StoreSEO, then tell me the credit cost of a 1,200 word post with a featured image about caring for linen before you start.
Prompt 2
Generate that post as a draft in the News blog and poll the job until it finishes.
Prompt 3
Once the draft is done, check its SEO score and tell me what still needs fixing.
  • List my blogs and write a 1,200 word draft on how to care for linen shirts in the News blog. Tell me the cost first.
  • Write a draft post targeting best gifts for coffee lovers, with a featured image.
  • How far along is the blog post you started?
  • Check the SEO score of the draft you just wrote.
  • Draft three post ideas for my store and write the strongest one.

What StoreSEO does: blog post drafts

StoreSEO writes a full blog post with AI and saves it as a draft article in the Shopify blog you choose, optionally with a featured image. Nothing is published: you review and publish from Shopify admin.

Requires: Spends AI Content Optimizer credit; the cost grows with word count and a featured image. Blogs must be synced in the StoreSEO app.

  1. 1

    Pick the blog

The agent lists your synced blogs, the sections posts go into, with their ids. An empty list means the blogs need syncing in the StoreSEO app first.

  2. 2

    Agree the brief and cost

Topic, keyword, length and whether to add a featured image. The cost grows with length and the image, so the agent tells you and waits for your yes.

  3. 3

    Generate in the background

Writing takes a few minutes. The agent polls the job and reports progress, and does not present the post as finished while it runs.

  4. 4

    Check the draft

When the job completes, the agent can read the draft article's SEO record. You review and publish the post from Shopify admin.

Blog post drafts reference

Output A draft article in the chosen Shopify blog, never published live
Featured image Optional; uploaded with the draft and adds to the cost
Run time A few minutes in the background
Insufficient credit The call fails before anything is queued or spent
Blogs Only blogs synced with StoreSEO are listed; syncing is done in the app
Failed runs The job reports the error and credits are settled automatically
06

Rules ChatGPT dots follows

  • The agent states the expected credit use and waits for your yes before it starts a post.
  • Posts are saved as drafts only; publishing is done by you in Shopify admin.
  • While the job runs, the agent reports progress and never presents the draft as finished.

In ChatGPT dots

A generation spends AI Content Optimizer credit and takes a few minutes, and a dot that runs it from a timer would spend that credit with nobody reading the draft. Keep storeseo_generate_blog_post for a chat where you have said yes, and let a scheduled dot only read article scores. An empty storeseo_list_blogs result means your blogs have not been synced in the StoreSEO app, and no tool here can sync them. Drafts are never published by this tool; you publish them from Shopify admin.

What runs without asking. Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client's own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.
