Run Your Shopify SEO with Grok Bot
Grok Bot is xAI's product for named AI Bots that keep their context and work on a persistent cloud computer, even while your device is closed. Connected to StoreSEO as a remote HTTPS MCP server, a Bot reads your store's SEO scores, previews better meta and alt text, and can run a scheduled check that reports back.
- Ask any Bot to add the StoreSEO server
- Allow once, Always allow or Deny on each action
- Report-only routines that run while you are away

Grok Bot: No llms.txt is live yet. Generating one spends AI credit and writes to your live theme and Shopify Files. Do you want me to generate it?
-
You: Yes, generate it.
- storeseo_generate_llms_txt needs approval
-
Grok Bot: Done. Your llms.txt is live. I can also check your agents.md and schema settings if you want.

How do I connect Grok Bot to StoreSEO?
- 1
Ask your Bot to add StoreSEO
In a chat with your Bot, ask it to add a custom remote HTTPS MCP server with this URL. xAI's documentation says a plugin added from your own chat is personal and account-wide, so every Bot on your account can use it. Complete the StoreSEO sign-in when the browser opens: pick your Shopify store and approve access.
PromptAdd a custom remote HTTPS MCP server called StoreSEO with the URL https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp and sign me in.
- 2
Attach it and check it works
In a chat, type @ to attach the StoreSEO connector to the task, then ask this to confirm the connection.
PromptUse @StoreSEO to show me my store's SEO score breakdown.
- 3
Or add it to a Team Bot from the Setup panel Optional
For a Team Bot, only its owner can change the setup, and the change reaches every teammate. The owner adds the plugin from the Plugins card in the Bot's Setup panel, choosing a custom MCP server over remote HTTPS, with this URL.
URLhttps://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp
Sign-in
xAI's documentation says a custom remote HTTPS server uses the Bot's own credential, or each person's sign-in when the server uses OAuth. StoreSEO uses OAuth: you pick your Shopify store in the browser and approve access.

What is Grok Bot?
Grok Bot is xAI's product for Bots you keep around: AI teammates with names, jobs and context that builds up over time. According to xAI's documentation, all your Bots share one persistent cloud computer with a browser, a filesystem and a terminal, which runs in Cursor's cloud, so work can continue while your device is closed. It runs in desktop and mobile apps and is included with paid individual Cursor plans, Cursor Teams, or a linked SuperGrok subscription.
Connectors are installed as plugins, and xAI's documentation says installed connectors are account-wide rather than tied to one Bot. A plugin can be a custom MCP server over remote HTTPS. It then uses the Bot's own credential, or each person's sign-in when the server uses OAuth. You attach a connector to a task by typing @ in the chat.
When an action needs approval, the Bot offers Allow once, Always allow or Deny. Auto-review rules under Settings, General, Auto-review can force an Ask first or allow matching actions automatically, and Ask first wins when both apply. Routines let a Bot run a workflow on a schedule.
Why use Grok Bot with StoreSEO?
An SEO check that happens while you are away
A routine can run on a schedule on the Bot's cloud computer and post a short summary: lowest-scoring products, images without alt text, whether llms.txt is live.
Approval on every action
StoreSEO tells the agent to preview and wait for your yes, and Grok Bot adds its own prompt with Allow once, Always allow and Deny, plus Ask first rules you can set in Auto-review.
Connect once for every Bot
A plugin you add from your own chat is account-wide, so your other Bots can use StoreSEO without another sign-in. A Team Bot's owner can add it for the whole team instead.
Good to know
- A plugin added from your own chat is personal and account-wide. A Team Bot's owner adds it from the Plugins card in the Setup panel, and that reaches only that Team Bot's teammates.
- Be careful with Always allow. It saves a rule for matching actions, so a StoreSEO write tool you always allow no longer stops for your yes in the client, and StoreSEO's preview-first instruction becomes the only check. Use Ask first rules in Auto-review for apply, generate and publish tools.
- A routine's Test run performs real work, including calls to connected tools, so run it with safe inputs. Write each routine as report only.
- xAI's documentation says Grok Bot inherits your team's Cursor connector policy, a blocked connector shows as Disabled by team admin, and the MCP allowlist is Enterprise only. On a team plan an admin may have to allow the StoreSEO server first.
What can you ask Grok Bot to do in StoreSEO?
Use @StoreSEO to find my lowest-scoring products and tell me what is wrong with each.
Which images in my store have no alt text? Preview alt text for five of them with @StoreSEO.
Is my llms.txt live and current? Tell me what generating a new one would change before you do anything.
Use @StoreSEO to show Search Console queries from the last 28 days where we rank between 8 and 20.
Which of my collections have no meta description? Preview one for the weakest and wait for my yes.
Run SEO checks on a schedule with a routine
A routine tells one Bot when to run a workflow. Ask the Bot in plain words when to run, what to check, where to report and what it must not do, and it creates the routine and shows its next run. Background routines can run while your laptop is closed, and Routines under the conversation details let you pause one or read its recent runs. Keep a routine to reads and reports. Nobody is there to say yes to a change, and a Test run performs real work, so word it as report only and keep Ask first rules on StoreSEO's write tools.
Every Monday at 8:00 AM, use @StoreSEO to list my lowest-scoring products, any images without alt text and whether my llms.txt is live. Post a short report in this conversation. Report only and change nothing. If StoreSEO is unreachable, say so instead of reusing last week's data.
Grok Bot guides by job
Each guide covers one StoreSEO job end to end in Grok Bot: setup, prompts, an example session, the rules and the limits.
Which way should you connect?
MCP server with OAuth
- Best for
- Claude, ChatGPT and any client that supports remote MCP sign-in
- Sign-in
- Pick your store in Shopify and approve once
- What you get
- All 44 tools, scoped to the store you approved
MCP server with an access token
- Best for
- Terminal agents and editors, or any client without OAuth
- Sign-in
- Generate a named token in Settings, AI Toolkit and send it as a Bearer header
- What you get
- The same 44 tools; revoke the token in the app to cut access
Shopify Sidekick
- Best for
- Merchants who stay inside Shopify admin
- Sign-in
- Nothing to add: StoreSEO is installed in your store
- What you get
- SEO answers and deep links to the fix page, not the MCP tools
What runs without asking. Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client's own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.
Questions
How do I connect Grok Bot to StoreSEO?
Ask your Bot in chat to add a custom remote HTTPS MCP server with the URL https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp and complete the sign-in in the browser: pick your Shopify store and approve access. Then type @ in a chat to attach StoreSEO. On a Team Bot, the owner adds it from the Plugins card in the Setup panel instead.
Do I need an API key for Grok Bot?
No. StoreSEO uses OAuth, so you sign in in the browser and approve your store. A personal access token from Settings, AI Toolkit is not part of the Grok Bot setup described in xAI's documentation.
Will Grok Bot change my store without asking?
StoreSEO tells the agent to preview first and wait for your yes before it applies content, optimizes images, changes settings, publishes a file or deletes anything, and reads such as scores and reports run straight away. That yes is an instruction, not a lock on the server. Grok Bot adds its own prompt with Allow once, Always allow and Deny, and Ask first rules in Auto-review are the hard stop. Always allow removes that prompt, so use it sparingly.
Which StoreSEO plan do I need?
Any active StoreSEO plan, including the free plan. Rank tracking is a Pro feature, Google reports need a paid plan with Google connected, and generated content spends AI credit. Grok Bot itself comes with a paid Cursor plan or a linked SuperGrok subscription.
Is a plugin I add shared with my teammates?
Not when you add it from your own chat: that is a personal plugin, available to every Bot on your account. A Team Bot's owner can add it from the Setup panel, and only that owner can change the setup, which reaches all teammates.
Can a routine run StoreSEO checks while I am away?
Yes. Ask a Bot to create a routine and it runs on a schedule on the Bot's cloud computer, even with your laptop closed. Keep it to reads and reports, because nobody is there to approve a change, and remember that Test run performs real work.
How is this different from Grok on grok.com?
Grok on grok.com is a chat assistant with a custom connector. Grok Bot gives you named Bots with a persistent cloud computer, plugins, approvals and routines. Both reach the same StoreSEO MCP server.
How do I disconnect Grok Bot from StoreSEO?
Remove the StoreSEO plugin from your Bot's plugins, and revoke the connection in the StoreSEO app under Settings, AI Toolkit, where every connected app is listed.
