Run Your Shopify SEO from NanoClaw

NanoClaw is a small open-source assistant that runs each agent in its own container, is built on Anthropic's Claude Agent SDK and answers you in WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack or Discord. With StoreSEO added to the agent, you ask in a chat message and it reads your store's SEO scores, previews optimized content and applies what you approve.

  • Message it from the chat app you already use
  • One MCP server added to your own fork's agent
  • Scheduled tasks for a weekly read-only SEO report

What is NanoClaw?

NanoClaw is an open-source AI assistant that runs agents in their own containers. It is built on Anthropic's Claude Agent SDK and is meant to be small enough to read, so you own a fork of the code and change it to fit what you need rather than editing a settings file.

You talk to it from a chat app. Its README lists WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Microsoft Teams, iMessage and others, installed as channels, and an agent answers when you use its trigger word, which defaults to @Andy. Each agent group has its own memory, workspace and container, and it can run scheduled tasks that you create from the command line or ask for in chat.

NanoClaw does not have a menu for adding connectors. A remote MCP server is added to an agent group's container configuration with the ncl command line, or by asking Claude Code to change your fork, and the agent's container is restarted to pick it up.

03

Why use NanoClaw with StoreSEO?

Ask from your phone

The chat app you already use becomes the front end. Send one message about your store from WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack or Discord and the agent calls StoreSEO for the answer.

You own the agent

NanoClaw runs on your own machine in containers you control, with its own memory per agent group. StoreSEO is one server added to one agent, and you can remove it the same way.

A report that arrives on its own

NanoClaw can run a recurring task and post the result to a chat. Point one at StoreSEO for a weekly read-only SEO summary without opening the Shopify admin.

04

Good to know

  • NanoClaw's documentation describes no browser OAuth sign-in for an MCP server inside the container, so this setup uses a StoreSEO access token. Treat the token like a password: the header is stored in the agent group's container configuration on your host, so keep that machine and its backups private.
  • NanoClaw says secrets belong with its credential gateway rather than in the agent. If you run a gateway, you can hold the StoreSEO token there for mcp.storeseo.com instead of in the header, following NanoClaw's gateway documentation.
  • The server is added per agent group. Add it to each group that should reach your store, and restart that group's container afterwards.
  • NanoClaw needs Docker on your own machine and the setup is yours to maintain. Whether it asks you before a tool runs depends on how your fork and your admins are set up, so the StoreSEO confirmation in the chat may be the only check.
05

What can you ask NanoClaw to do in StoreSEO?

Tap a prompt to copy it, then paste it into NanoClaw.

06

Send a weekly SEO report with a NanoClaw scheduled task

NanoClaw runs a prompt on a cron schedule in the agent's own session. A scheduled task has no chat attached, so the prompt has to say where to send the result. A scheduled run should be report-only: the prompt asks for reads, because nobody is there to say yes to a write.

Terminal
ncl tasks create \
  --group <group-id> \
  --name "Monday SEO report" \
  --recurrence "0 8 * * 1" \
--prompt "Use StoreSEO to report my SEO score breakdown and the five lowest-scoring products, and send it to telegram. Read only: do not preview, apply, generate or delete anything."

One connection gives NanoClaw your whole store

Connect NanoClaw once. It can then read and improve every part of your store below, through the same 44 StoreSEO tools and the same approval rules.

NanoClaw guides by job

Audit your store's SEO with NanoClaw Find the products, collections, pages and posts with the lowest SEO scores and see exactly what each one is missing. Optimize meta tags and content with NanoClaw Preview and apply new meta titles, descriptions, URL handles, tags, FAQs and AI snippets, and set what StoreSEO optimizes automatically for newly synced products, collections and articles. Optimize images and alt text with NanoClaw Compress heavy images, write alt text and give image files descriptive names, one image at a time, with a restore for each change. Publish llms.txt and agents.md with NanoClaw Generate the llms.txt file answer engines read and the agents.md file AI shopping agents read, check what is live, roll back or delete llms.txt versions, and reset agents.md to Shopify's default. Set up structured data with NanoClaw Check which JSON-LD schema types are on, configure organization, local business, product and review schema, and switch types on or off. Manage sitemaps and indexing with NanoClaw Exclude pages from the sitemap, set noindex or nofollow on a resource, and set up an HTML sitemap page for shoppers and crawlers, including which menu links to it. Track keyword rankings with NanoClaw Track where your store ranks on Google by country and language, add or remove keywords and up to five competitors, read each keyword's rank history, and build keyword clusters for products. Read Search Console and Analytics with NanoClaw Ask about clicks, impressions, queries, pages and traffic sources from Google Search Console and GA4 without opening either. Write SEO blog post drafts with NanoClaw Have StoreSEO write a complete SEO blog post and save it as a draft in your Shopify blog, ready for you to review and publish.

What runs without asking. Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client's own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.

Questions

How do I connect NanoClaw to StoreSEO?

Create an access token in StoreSEO under Settings, AI Toolkit. Then run ncl groups config add-mcp-server with the name storeseo, the URL https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp and the token as an Authorization Bearer header, and restart the agent group with ncl groups restart. You can also ask Claude Code to make the same change in your NanoClaw fork.

Do I need a StoreSEO API key for NanoClaw?

You need a personal access token from StoreSEO under Settings, AI Toolkit. NanoClaw's documentation describes no browser OAuth sign-in for an MCP server inside its container, so the token is the supported route here.

Where does NanoClaw keep the StoreSEO server?

In the container configuration of the agent group you added it to. NanoClaw stores that configuration in its database and writes it to the group's container.json when the container starts, so the server is per agent group.

Will NanoClaw change my products without asking?

StoreSEO tells the agent to preview first and wait for your yes in the chat before it applies content, optimizes images, publishes a file or deletes anything. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, and NanoClaw's own approval behavior depends on how you configured your fork. Reads such as scores and reports run straight away.

Can NanoClaw send me a regular SEO report?

Yes. NanoClaw has scheduled tasks that run a prompt on a cron schedule. Write the prompt as read-only and name the chat destination in it, because a scheduled task has no conversation attached and nobody is there to approve a write.

Which StoreSEO plan does NanoClaw need?

Any active StoreSEO plan, including the free plan, can use the MCP server. Rank tracking is a Pro feature, Google reports need a paid plan with Google connected, and generated content spends AI Content Optimizer credit.

How do I disconnect NanoClaw from my store?

Remove the server from the agent group with ncl groups config remove-mcp-server and restart the group. Then revoke the token in StoreSEO under Settings, AI Toolkit, where every connected app and token is listed.
