Run Your Shopify SEO from Muse
Muse is Meta's personal AI agent, which takes actions for you instead of only answering questions and runs in the Muse app, on muse.ai and inside WhatsApp. Connected to StoreSEO as a custom connector, it reads your store's SEO scores, drafts better meta and alt text, and applies the changes you say yes to.
- No settings screen: one message sets it up
- Sign in with your Shopify store, no key to paste
- Chat from the Muse app, muse.ai or WhatsApp

Sign-in
StoreSEO uses OAuth: the sign-in opens a browser page where you pick your Shopify store and approve access. Muse has no connector form you fill in for this, so you start it by sending Muse a message that contains the StoreSEO MCP URL.

What is Muse?
Muse is a personal AI agent from Meta. It is meant to complete tasks for you rather than only answer questions, and you talk to it like a message thread in the Muse app, on muse.ai or in WhatsApp. Meta says it is rolling out in the US first, and that it is free for most of what people need, with subscription plans for people who want to do more.
Muse runs on a dedicated Muse Secure VM for each person. A separate Sentinel agent on the same machine decides what leaves it: Meta says nothing Muse does reaches the internet unless Sentinel approves it, and that it asks you for permission when needed. Muse reaches other services through connectors, which you add by asking Muse or from its settings. For services Meta does not list, you can create a custom connector.
Meta states that it does not review custom connectors or how they use your information, so a custom connector is your own call to trust. That is the route StoreSEO takes in Muse today.
Why use Muse with StoreSEO?
SEO work from a chat thread
Ask in plain words, the way you would message a colleague, and Muse runs the StoreSEO tools behind it. It suits store owners who would rather not open the Shopify admin to fix meta or alt text.
On your phone or in WhatsApp
Because Muse lives in its mobile app and in WhatsApp as well as on the web, you can check your store's scores or approve a fix away from your desk.
Two places that ask first
StoreSEO tells the agent to preview and wait for your yes before it writes, and Muse and its Sentinel agent ask you for permission on important actions too.
Good to know
- Muse is rolling out in the US first, so you may not have access yet. Check Meta's rollout before planning around it.
- StoreSEO is a custom connector in Muse, not a listed one. Meta does not review custom connectors, so approve the sign-in only for the StoreSEO link you sent yourself.
- Muse decides when to ask your permission. Do not rely on that alone: tell it to preview and ask before it applies, publishes or deletes anything, and read each question before you answer yes.
- Pasted messages are not a settings screen, so there is no list of connected tools to switch off in Muse. To cut off access, revoke the connection in StoreSEO under Settings, AI Toolkit.
What can you ask Muse to do in StoreSEO?
Tap a prompt to copy it, then paste it into Muse.
One connection gives Muse your whole store
Connect Muse once. It can then read and improve every part of your store below, through the same 44 StoreSEO tools and the same approval rules.
Muse guides by job
Each guide covers one StoreSEO job end to end in Muse: setup, prompts, an example session, the rules and the limits.
Which way should you connect?
MCP server with OAuth
- Best for
- Claude, ChatGPT and any client that supports remote MCP sign-in
- Sign-in
- Pick your store in Shopify and approve once
- What you get
- All 44 tools, scoped to the store you approved
MCP server with an access token
- Best for
- Terminal agents and editors, or any client without OAuth
- Sign-in
- Generate a named token in Settings, AI Toolkit and send it as a Bearer header
- What you get
- The same 44 tools; revoke the token in the app to cut access
Shopify Sidekick
- Best for
- Merchants who stay inside Shopify admin
- Sign-in
- Nothing to add: StoreSEO is installed in your store
- What you get
- SEO answers and deep links to the fix page, not the MCP tools
What runs without asking. Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client's own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.
Questions
How do I connect Muse to StoreSEO?
Send Muse a message that contains the StoreSEO MCP URL, https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp, and asks it to add a custom connector and send you the sign-in link. Open the link, pick your Shopify store in the browser and approve access. Muse has no connector form for this, so the message is the setup.
Do I need a StoreSEO API key for Muse?
No. StoreSEO signs you in with OAuth, so you approve access in the browser instead of pasting a key into the chat. A personal access token from StoreSEO under Settings, AI Toolkit is the alternative for clients that take a header, but Muse is set up with the sign-in link.
Is StoreSEO a listed Muse connector?
No. Meta reviews connectors before they appear in its directory, and StoreSEO is added as a custom connector instead. Meta says it does not review custom connectors, so only approve the sign-in for the link you sent yourself.
Will Muse change my products without asking?
StoreSEO tells the agent to preview first and wait for your yes before it applies content, optimizes images, publishes a file or deletes anything, and Muse and its Sentinel agent also ask for your permission on important actions. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server. Reads such as scores and reports run straight away.
Where does Muse work with StoreSEO?
Wherever you chat with Muse: the Muse app, muse.ai or WhatsApp. Muse is rolling out in the US first, so availability depends on whether you have access yet.
Which StoreSEO plan does Muse need?
Any active StoreSEO plan, including the free plan, can use the MCP server. Rank tracking is a Pro feature, Google reports need a paid plan with Google connected, and generated content spends AI credit.
How do I disconnect Muse from my store?
Remove the StoreSEO connector in Muse, then revoke the connection in StoreSEO under Settings, AI Toolkit, where every connected app is listed. Revoking there is what stops access to your store.
