How to Connect StoreSEO MCP to Muse
Muse is a personal AI agent from Meta. It is meant to complete tasks for you rather than only answer questions, and you talk to it like a message thread in the Muse app, on muse.ai or in WhatsApp. Meta says it is rolling out in the US first, and that it is free for most of what people need, with subscription plans for people who want to do more.
This guide connects Muse to the StoreSEO MCP server at https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp. Once connected, Muse can read your Shopify store’s SEO scores and settings and, when you agree, apply optimized meta, alt text, schema and other SEO changes. For what to ask once you are set up, see StoreSEO for Muse.
Before You Start
- Server URL:
https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp - Sign-in: StoreSEO uses OAuth: the sign-in opens a browser page where you pick your Shopify store and approve access. Muse has no connector form you fill in for this, so you start it by sending Muse a message that contains the StoreSEO MCP URL.
- Plan: The MCP server works on any active StoreSEO plan, including the free plan. A store with no active plan gets a message with a link to choose one in the app.
- Access token (if you need one): create it in the StoreSEO app under Settings, AI Toolkit. Treat it like a password.
Connect StoreSEO to Muse
Step 1: Send this message to Muse
Paste it into a new chat with Muse in the app, on muse.ai or in WhatsApp. Muse is rolling out in the US first, so you need access to it before this works.
Add a custom connector for my Shopify SEO app StoreSEO:
https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp
- It is an MCP server over HTTP and it signs in with OAuth. Send me the sign-in link and I will approve it.
- Once it is connected, show me my store's SEO score breakdown.
Step 2: Approve the sign-in for your store
Open the sign-in link Muse sends back, pick your Shopify store in the browser and approve access. Meta does not review custom connectors, so only approve this one if you started it.
https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp
Check the Connection
Start a new chat and send this prompt. Muse should call StoreSEO and answer with your store’s real SEO score.
Use StoreSEO to show me my store's SEO score breakdown.
What to Ask Muse
- Use StoreSEO to show me which of my products have the lowest SEO scores.
- Preview a better meta title and description for my best seller, and wait for my yes before you save it.
- Which of my product images are missing alt text? Tell me how many before you change anything.
- Check whether my store has an llms.txt file and tell me what generating one would change.
- How did my store’s organic search traffic change over the last 28 days?
How Approvals Work
Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client’s own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.
Things to Know About Muse
- Muse is rolling out in the US first, so you may not have access yet. Check Meta’s rollout before planning around it.
- StoreSEO is a custom connector in Muse, not a listed one. Meta does not review custom connectors, so approve the sign-in only for the StoreSEO link you sent yourself.
- Muse decides when to ask your permission. Do not rely on that alone: tell it to preview and ask before it applies, publishes or deletes anything, and read each question before you answer yes.
- Pasted messages are not a settings screen, so there is no list of connected tools to switch off in Muse. To cut off access, revoke the connection in StoreSEO under Settings, AI Toolkit.
Disconnect
Remove the StoreSEO server in Muse, then revoke the connection or the access token in the StoreSEO app under Settings, AI Toolkit, where every connected client is listed.
