How to Connect StoreSEO MCP to Claude

Claude is Anthropic’s AI assistant. You use it in a browser at claude.ai, in the Claude Desktop app and in mobile apps, and it can answer questions, write and analyze, and take actions through connected tools.

This guide connects Claude to the StoreSEO MCP server at https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp. Once connected, Claude can read your Shopify store’s SEO scores and settings and, when you agree, apply optimized meta, alt text, schema and other SEO changes. Before You Start

Server URL: https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp
Sign-in: You sign in when you add the connector: Claude opens a browser window where you pick your Shopify store and approve access. StoreSEO supports dynamic client registration, so there is no token to paste.
Plan: The MCP server works on any active StoreSEO plan, including the free plan. A store with no active plan gets a message with a link to choose one in the app.
Access token (if you need one): create it in the StoreSEO app under Settings, AI Toolkit. Treat it like a password.

Connect StoreSEO to Claude

Step 1: Add StoreSEO as a custom connector

In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose + Add and then Add custom connector. Name it StoreSEO and paste this URL as the remote MCP server URL.

Step 2: Approve your store

Claude opens the StoreSEO sign-in in your browser. Pick your Shopify store and approve access. Then start a new chat and ask this to confirm the connection works.

Other Ways to Connect

Option: Add it as an owner on Team or Enterprise

Only if you are on a Team or Enterprise plan: an owner adds the same URL under Organization settings, then Connectors. Members then connect their own store from Customize, then Connectors.

How Approvals Work

Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client’s own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.

Things to Know About Claude

The Free plan allows one custom connector, so StoreSEO takes that slot. Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans allow more.
On Team and Enterprise, members cannot add a custom connector themselves: an owner adds it under Organization settings, Connectors, and members then authenticate from Customize, Connectors.
Claude’s own prompts for write actions are the hard stop. Anthropic advises using Allow always only for servers you trust, and for StoreSEO it is safer to keep the apply, optimize, generate and delete tools on ask.
Start each conversation by checking that the connector is switched on for it in the Search and Tools menu, and turn off tools you do not need for that chat.

Disconnect

Remove the StoreSEO server in Claude, then revoke the connection or the access token in the StoreSEO app under Settings, AI Toolkit, where every connected client is listed.
