Shopify SEO App Feature Matrix: 11 Apps, 29 Features
Written by M Asif Rahman
StoreSEO is our product, and this matrix checks it against 10 other Shopify SEO apps on the same 29 features, using only what each app states on its own Shopify App Store listing. StoreSEO wins on free AI credits and keyword tracking; TinySEO, Booster SEO and Schema Plus beat it on image compression, broken links and schema.

TL;DR:
| What you’re comparing | Best for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Most AI credits on a free plan | StoreSEO | 200 AI credits on Free Forever, ahead of Avada’s 100 and SEOLab’s 30 |
| Keyword rank tracking, free | StoreSEO | Tracks up to 5 keywords free; none of the other 10 apps list tracking on their free tier |
| Most images compressed free | Tapita | 900 compressions a month on its Free plan, the highest of any app checked |
| FAQ schema at all | SearchPie, SEOWILL or Schema Plus | The only three that name it, each on a paid plan; no app lists it free |
| Broken links fixed automatically | Booster SEO or SearchPie | Both list detection on their free plan; StoreSEO does not list this feature at all |
Which 11 Shopify SEO Apps Did We Compare?
This matrix is the data appendix to our best Shopify SEO apps buying guide, built for the question that guide answers in prose: does a specific app have a specific feature. We checked Booster SEO, Avada SEO, SEOLab, Tapita, TinySEO, SearchPie, SEOWILL, Smart SEO, StoreSEO, Schema Plus and Yoast SEO against 29 features in five groups: core on-page SEO, structured data, AI search, images and speed, and integrations. StoreSEO is our product, and we scored it by the same rule as every other app here: only what its own Shopify App Store listing states, nothing from memory or from how the app actually behaves once installed.
What counts as a “yes” versus “Not listed” in every table below.
Which Apps Cover Core On-Page SEO?
These seven checks are the baseline almost every store needs first: can you edit a meta tag, does the app catch a broken link, and is there a free plan worth starting on. If you are not sure a dedicated app is the right call at all, our native vs app breakdown covers what Shopify’s own admin already handles for free.
| Feature | Booster | Avada | SEOLab | Tapita | TinySEO | SearchPie | SEOWILL | SmartSEO | StoreSEO | SchemaPlus | Yoast |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Meta tag editing | Paid | Free | Free | Free | Paid | Free | Paid | Free | Free | Not listed | Not listed |
| Bulk editing across products | Paid | Not listed | Free | Free | Not listed | Free | Paid | Paid | Paid | Not listed | Paid |
| Broken link detection and fixing | Free | Paid | Paid | Paid | Paid | Free | Paid | Free | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed |
| XML or HTML sitemap | Paid | Free | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Free | Not listed | Free | Paid | Not listed | Not listed |
| robots.txt editing | Not listed | Paid | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed |
| On-page SEO score or audit | Free | Free | Free | Free | Free | Free | Free | Free | Free | Not listed | Paid |
| Free plan available at all | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | No | No |
StoreSEO’s free plan covers five of these seven. Broken link fixing is the one it does not list at all (see the FAQ below), and robots.txt editing is not listed by any of the 11 apps, since Shopify itself generates and serves that file. Install details for any plan are on StoreSEO’s install guide.
Which Apps Cover Structured Data and Schema?
Structured data (JSON-LD) is the format search engines recommend for marking up a page, defined by schema.org. Schema Plus, the most specialised app in this set, pulls ahead here: it is the only one listing review schema, and it covers four of the five rows below. FAQ Schema is the feature we are naming for StoreSEO in this post, documented at how to add FAQ schema; StoreSEO’s listing names it without stating a specific plan, and only SearchPie, SEOWILL and Schema Plus name it on a paid tier.
| Feature | Booster | Avada | SEOLab | Tapita | TinySEO | SearchPie | SEOWILL | SmartSEO | StoreSEO | SchemaPlus | Yoast |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Structured data / JSON-LD (general) | Paid | Free | Paid | Free | Paid | Free | Paid | Paid | Paid | Paid | Paid |
| FAQ schema | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Paid | Not listed | Listed | Paid | Not listed |
| Review schema | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Not listed |
| Local Business schema | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Listed | Paid | Not listed |
| Breadcrumb schema | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Free | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Not listed |
Which Apps Cover AI Search and AI Assistants?
AI search is the newest category on every one of these listings, and it is also the most inconsistent: 8 of 11 apps list an LLMs.txt generator somewhere, but only 3 list an AI assistant integration such as MCP or Shopify Sidekick.
How many of the 11 apps list each AI search feature, counted from their own listings.
| Feature | Booster | Avada | SEOLab | Tapita | TinySEO | SearchPie | SEOWILL | SmartSEO | StoreSEO | SchemaPlus | Yoast |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| LLMs.txt generator | Not listed | Not listed | Free | Free | Paid | Paid | Paid | Paid | Free | Not listed | Listed |
| AI assistant (MCP) integration | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Free | Paid | Listed | Not listed | Not listed |
| AI content credits on free plan | Not listed | Free | Free | Listed | Not listed | Free | Free | Free | Free | Not listed | Not listed |
| AI blog post writer | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Free | Not listed | Free | Not listed | Listed | Not listed | Not listed |
| GEO or AI-visibility audit | Not listed | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Free | Not listed | Listed | Not listed | Paid |
| agents.md editor | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Free | Not listed | Not listed |
StoreSEO’s MCP connector lets Claude or ChatGPT edit meta tags and schema directly from a prompt. Smart SEO is the only other app here that names the same kind of integration, and it is gated to its Pro plan.
Which Apps Cover Images and Site Speed?
Every app with a free plan compresses some images for free, but the monthly cap varies by a factor of 36, from Tapita’s 900 down to StoreSEO’s 25.
How many images each free plan compresses a month, Schema Plus and Yoast excluded since neither lists image optimization.
| Feature | Booster | Avada | SEOLab | Tapita | TinySEO | SearchPie | SEOWILL | SmartSEO | StoreSEO | SchemaPlus | Yoast |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Image compression (see chart above) | Free | Free | Free | Free | Free | Free | Free | Free | Free | Not listed | Not listed |
| Image filename optimization | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Free | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Listed | Not listed | Not listed |
| Lazy loading | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Not listed | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed |
| Page or site speed booster | Not listed | Free | Not listed | Paid | Paid | Not listed | Free | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed |
| Bulk image optimization, whole catalog | Free | Paid | Paid | Not listed | Paid | Paid | Paid | Paid | Paid | Not listed | Not listed |
TinySEO and SEOLab are the only two that name lazy loading specifically, and StoreSEO’s listing does not name a speed booster at all, since its own focus is meta tags, schema and Search Console rather than Core Web Vitals.
Which Apps Cover Integrations, Keywords and Trust?
| Feature | Booster | Avada | SEOLab | Tapita | TinySEO | SearchPie | SEOWILL | SmartSEO | StoreSEO | SchemaPlus | Yoast |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Search Console integration | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Paid | Paid | Not listed |
| Google Analytics integration | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Not listed | Not listed |
| Keyword rank tracking | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Free | Not listed | Not listed |
| Multilingual / multi-language SEO | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Paid | Not listed | Not listed |
| Competitor analysis | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Paid | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Paid |
| Built for Shopify badge | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | No | Yes | Yes | No | No |
The Built for Shopify badge is Shopify’s own trust signal, not a feature either app chose: Shopify grants it, and SEOWILL, Schema Plus and Yoast do not currently show it on their listings.
How Did We Verify Each Cell?
Every cell in the five tables above comes from one source: the app’s own Shopify App Store listing, fetched 18 October 2026. We did not install any of the 11 apps on a demo store, and we did not read support documentation, changelog pages or third-party reviews to fill a gap. If a listing’s bullet point named the feature on a specific plan, we recorded that plan. If a bullet named the feature without stating a plan, we wrote Listed. If the listing never named the feature at all, we wrote Not listed rather than guess. StoreSEO’s own listing follows the same rule: broken link fixing genuinely is not listed there, so that cell reads Not listed too, the same as it would for any other app.
StoreSEO’s own Free Forever plan, copied from its Shopify App Store listing on 18 October 2026.
Which Features Actually Matter Most?
Not every row in this matrix should decide your pick. A free plan’s real limits, whether broken links get fixed automatically, and how many images a month the free tier compresses are the checks that change which app actually fits your store. A GEO audit, review schema or a built-in competitor panel rarely are, unless your store already has a specific reason to want one of them today.
From the 29 rows above: which checks are worth your time before you install, and which rarely decide anything.
For a narrower read on which StoreSEO features are worth paying for versus which are nice to have, see our features worth paying for guide. If price itself is the deciding factor rather than any single feature, our Shopify SEO cost breakdown compares app plans against hiring an agency.
Have Any Features Changed Since We Checked?
This matrix launched 18 October 2026 with all 11 apps checked on the same day, so there is nothing to log yet. When an app updates its plans or its listed features in a way that flips a cell, the change will be dated and added here rather than silently edited into the tables above, the same practice our living changes log uses for Google and AI search updates.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What is a Shopify SEO app feature matrix?
It is a table that checks what each app’s own Shopify App Store listing claims for a fixed list of features, side by side. This matrix checked 11 apps against 29 features, using only wording that appears on each app’s own listing. It does not test the apps by installing them on a live store.
2. Why do so many cells say “Not listed” instead of a clear yes or no?
A Shopify App Store listing only has room for its most marketable bullets, so an app can easily have a feature it never advertises there. Marking a cell “Not listed” means the listing never names the feature on any plan, not that the app lacks it. Ask the developer directly if a specific gap changes your decision.
3. Which Shopify SEO app has the most AI features for free?
StoreSEO’s Free Forever plan lists the most AI-related items of any free plan checked: 200 AI credits, an LLMs.txt generator and an Agents.md editor, plus tracking for five keywords. SEOLab and Avada SEO also include AI credits free, at 30 and 100 respectively.
4. Does StoreSEO have every feature in this matrix?
No. Broken link fixing is not listed on StoreSEO’s Shopify App Store listing, and neither are lazy loading, competitor analysis or breadcrumb schema. TinySEO and Booster SEO cover more of the image and speed rows, and Schema Plus covers more of the schema rows.
5. Which apps list FAQ schema?
SearchPie, SEOWILL and Schema Plus all name FAQ schema on a paid plan, and StoreSEO lists it without naming a specific plan tier. None of the 11 apps list FAQ schema on a free plan.
6. How often is this matrix updated?
Every cell is dated to when it was checked against each app’s own listing, and the changelog above this FAQ records what changed on a later recheck. An app can change its plans or its listed features at any time, so treat a cell as current only as of its stated date.
Install StoreSEO’s free plan and check these 29 rows against your own catalog, or see how it compares head to head in our StoreSEO vs SearchPie guide. Either way, try StoreSEO on the Shopify App Store.
