How to Use StoreSEO with Shopify Sidekick to Find And Fix SEO Issues Faster

StoreSEO is now available inside Shopify Sidekick. This means you can ask Sidekick questions about your store’s SEO performance and get instant answers, without leaving your Shopify admin. So now, when a merchant asks Sidekick something that relates to that app, Sidekick can pull the answer from there.

This document explains how to use Shopify Sidekick to identify SEO issues across your store through simple conversations.

What You Can Do with StoreSEO in Sidekick

Once you open a Sidekick conversation, you can ask about your store’s SEO in plain language. Here are some of the things you can get done:

  • Check the SEO score of your products, collections, or pages
  • Find out which products are missing meta titles or meta descriptions
  • Identify images with missing or weak alt text
  • Get instant recommendations to fix specific SEO issues

Follow the step-by-step guide below to use StoreSEO inside Shopify Sidekick.

Step 1: Find the Sidekick Conversation from Shopify Admin

Log in to your Shopify store and go to your admin dashboard. Look for the purple glasses icon in the top bar of your admin. Click on it to open the Sidekick panel.

You can also access Sidekick from the left side panel, where you will find the ‘Sidekick Conversations’. Simply click on it to open a new conversation.

Step 2: Start a Conversation

Once the Sidekick panel opens, you will see a chat interface. You can type your question or use voice mode to ask. No configuration or special commands are needed.

Simply describe what you want to know about your store’s SEO. For example:

  • “Which of my products have missing meta descriptions?”
  • “Show me the SEO score for my homepage.”
  • “Which product images are missing alt text?”
  • “How can I improve SEO for my best-selling products?”

Sidekick will use StoreSEO to find the relevant data and bring it into the conversation.

Step 3: Review the SEO Insights Sidekick Surfaces

After that, Sidekick will pull the relevant SEO data from StoreSEO and display it directly in the chat. You will see things like SEO scores, missing fields, and specific recommendations tied to your actual store data. Review the information to understand where your store needs attention.

Once Sidekick identifies the issues, you can ask it for further help. For example:

  • “Write a meta description for this product.” or
  • Can you write the meta description for the products you identified?

You can continue the conversation to address more issues, run a broader SEO audit, or ask follow-up questions, all without leaving the Shopify admin.
