Read Search Console and Analytics with Hermes Agent
Reading Search Console and Analytics with Hermes Agent means Nous Research's open-source agent asks StoreSEO for your clicks, queries, pages and traffic sources, in a terminal session or a chat app, and can repeat the same check on a hermes cron schedule.

Set up Hermes Agent for StoreSEO
Skip this if Hermes Agent is already connected. The full guide, with the alternatives, is on the Hermes Agent page.
- 1
Add StoreSEO to config.yaml
Add this under mcp_servers in ~/.hermes/config.yaml. If the file already has an mcp_servers block, add only the storeseo entry. Then start a new Hermes session, or run /reload-mcp in the one that is open.
YAMLmcp_servers: storeseo: url: "https://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp" auth: oauth - 2
Sign in to your store
On first connect Hermes prints an authorize URL and waits for the sign-in. Run this command to start it yourself or to re-authorize later. Pick your Shopify store and approve. Hermes caches the tokens in ~/.hermes/mcp-tokens/storeseo.json.
Terminalhermes mcp login storeseo
How does this work in Hermes Agent?
Hermes Agent keeps memory across sessions and runs from a terminal or from chat apps such as Telegram, Discord and Slack, so you can ask about your store wherever you already are. After storeseo is added under mcp_servers in config.yaml and you have signed in with hermes mcp login storeseo, a question such as how did my Google clicks change this month starts with storeseo_start. Hermes then calls storeseo_get_search_console_insights, usually with the date dimension for a trend or the query dimension for a ranked list, and answers with the totals and the previous period beside them.
Memory changes how the follow-ups feel. Because Hermes remembers earlier sessions, you can say compare this with what we found last week and it can refer to the figures it already reported, though it will read the report again for the current range rather than guess. For GA4 questions it calls storeseo_get_analytics_report with a report type such as user_activity, page_performance or key_events. Both tools are reads, so the answers arrive without a pause, and you can ask for the same data by device, country or search appearance with one more call.
hermes cron create takes a schedule and a prompt and delivers the result to a chat target, so a weekly Google digest can land in Telegram on its own. Write that prompt as a report: ask for the top queries, the pages with high impressions and low click-through rate and the main traffic sources, each against the previous period, and say plainly not to preview, apply or generate anything. The rest of the job, such as rewriting meta for a weak page, belongs in a live session where StoreSEO can ask for your yes and you can give it.
-
You: How did my Google traffic change in the last 28 days, and which queries drive it?
- storeseo_start read-only
- storeseo_get_search_console_insights read-only
-
Hermes Agent: Clicks and impressions are both up against the previous 28 days, and average position improved slightly. The top query is linen shirt women. Should I also pull GA4 user activity for the same range?
-
You: Yes, please.
- storeseo_get_analytics_report read-only
-
Hermes Agent: Active users rose and engagement held steady. I can turn this into a Monday report with hermes cron, kept to reads only.
What to ask Hermes Agent
Use StoreSEO to list my top queries by clicks for the last 28 days and compare with the 28 days before.
Which of my pages earn many impressions but a CTR under two percent? Sort by impressions.
Read the GA4 user_activity report for the last three months and tell me whether engagement is rising or falling.
- Which queries brought the most clicks from Google in the last 28 days, and how does that compare with the month before?
- Which product pages have high impressions but a CTR under two percent?
- Show organic search traffic from GA4 for the last three months.
- Which countries send the most visitors, and on which devices?
- Which traffic sources led to purchases last month?
What StoreSEO does: search console and analytics reports
StoreSEO connects to your Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 property. The agent reads Search Console performance by date, query, page, country, device or search appearance, and curated GA4 reports, each compared with the previous period by default.
Requires: A paid StoreSEO plan with Google connected in the app, and a GA4 property selected for Analytics reports.
- 1
Pick the question
Search Console answers how you appear in Google: clicks, impressions, CTR and average position. GA4 answers what visitors do: users, engagement, pages, sources and key events.
- 2
Read the report
The agent reads the last 28 days by default, or the range you name, broken down by the dimension that fits the question.
- 3
Compare periods
Both reports include the previous period of the same length and the change per metric unless you ask otherwise.
- 4
Turn it into actions
The agent can link what it finds to the other jobs, for example pages with impressions but a low CTR are candidates for new meta.

Rules Hermes Agent follows
- Both tools are reads and run straight away.
- Connecting Google or choosing the GA4 property is done in the StoreSEO app; the agent hands you the link when it is missing.
- Numbers are reported as Google returns them; the agent does not project outcomes from them.
In Hermes Agent
Start a new session or run /reload-mcp after you edit config.yaml, otherwise the session you already have open will not see the storeseo server and the two report tools will seem to be missing. For a cron job, remember that no one is there to say yes, so the prompt should ask for reads only. If you use a personal access token instead of OAuth, the token sits in config.yaml, so keep that file out of version control and revoke the token in Settings, AI Toolkit if it leaks.
What runs without asking. Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client's own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.
Questions
Can hermes cron send me a Search Console report every week?
Yes. hermes cron create takes a schedule and a prompt and can deliver the result to a chat target such as Telegram. Ask for reads only, because a scheduled run cannot wait for a yes, and both StoreSEO Google tools are read-only.
Does Hermes remember my earlier Google figures?
Hermes keeps memory across sessions, so it can recall what it reported before. For a current number it still calls storeseo_get_search_console_insights or storeseo_get_analytics_report again, so you get the figures Google returns for the range you name.
Can the agent connect my Google account?
No. Connecting Search Console and Google Analytics, and choosing the GA4 property, is done in the StoreSEO app. If Google is not connected, the tool returns a link telling you what to set up.
Can these reports change anything?
No. Both Google tools are read-only. They never connect, configure or write anything in Google or in your store.
Which plan includes Google reports over MCP?
A paid StoreSEO plan with Google connected. Analytics reports also need a GA4 property selected in the app.
How far back can the agent look?
You can name any date range the report supports. When you do not, both tools default to the last 28 days and compare it with the 28 days before.
