Read Search Console and Analytics with Grok
Reading Search Console and Analytics with Grok means asking xAI's assistant in a normal chat which queries, pages and channels bring your Shopify store its visitors, while the StoreSEO connector fetches the figures from your Google accounts and Grok explains them in plain words.

Skip this if Grok is already connected. The full guide, with the alternatives, is on the Grok page.
- 1
Add a custom connector
Open the connectors page on grok.com, choose New Connector and then Custom. Enter this as the MCP server URL and complete the authentication when it opens.
URLhttps://mcp.storeseo.com/mcp
- 2
Approve your store and check it
Pick your Shopify store in the browser and approve access. Then start a chat with the connector available and ask this to confirm the connection works.
PromptUse StoreSEO to show me my store's SEO score breakdown.
How does this work in Grok?
You open a chat on grok.com with the StoreSEO connector available and type the question you would otherwise open two Google dashboards for. Grok calls storeseo_start to open a session, then storeseo_get_search_console_insights for the clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position of your top queries. The answer comes back in the conversation, with the last 28 days and the previous 28 days side by side, and you can read it on a laptop or in the xAI app on your phone without installing anything.
The chat format suits follow-up questions. After the query list you can say now by country, and Grok makes another call with the country dimension, or ask for the same numbers by device, by page or by search appearance. For visitor behavior it switches to storeseo_get_analytics_report and picks a report type such as search_traffic, traffic_source or page_performance. Both tools only read, so the connector can run them straight away, and you can keep asking for different slices without anything being applied to your store.
Grok is also good at the explaining part. Ask why a query with many impressions earns so few clicks and it will describe what a low click-through rate usually points to, using the figures StoreSEO returned. Keep in mind that the numbers are what Google reports for the range you named, and Grok does not forecast outcomes from them. If a Search Console figure points at a page worth fixing, say so and Grok can carry on into the meta or alt text jobs in the same chat, where StoreSEO asks for your yes before anything is written.
-
You: Show me which Google queries bring my store the most clicks, and compare with last period.
- storeseo_start read-only
- storeseo_get_search_console_insights read-only
-
Grok: Your top query is linen shirt women with 312 clicks, up from the previous 28 days. Two queries have many impressions but a CTR under 2 percent, which makes their pages good candidates for new meta.
-
You: What about visitors by channel in GA4?
- storeseo_get_analytics_report read-only
-
Grok: Organic search is your biggest channel, then direct and email. Want these two weak-CTR pages listed with their current meta descriptions?
What to ask Grok
Which Google queries sent my store the most clicks in the last 28 days, and how does that compare with the 28 days before?
Break my Search Console clicks down by device and by country, and tell me which segment grew the most.
Show my GA4 traffic sources for last month and explain in simple words which channel I should look at first.
- Which queries brought the most clicks from Google in the last 28 days, and how does that compare with the month before?
- Which product pages have high impressions but a CTR under two percent?
- Show organic search traffic from GA4 for the last three months.
- Which countries send the most visitors, and on which devices?
- Which traffic sources led to purchases last month?
What StoreSEO does: search console and analytics reports
StoreSEO connects to your Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 property. The agent reads Search Console performance by date, query, page, country, device or search appearance, and curated GA4 reports, each compared with the previous period by default.
Requires: A paid StoreSEO plan with Google connected in the app, and a GA4 property selected for Analytics reports.
- 1
Pick the question
Search Console answers how you appear in Google: clicks, impressions, CTR and average position. GA4 answers what visitors do: users, engagement, pages, sources and key events.
- 2
Read the report
The agent reads the last 28 days by default, or the range you name, broken down by the dimension that fits the question.
- 3
Compare periods
Both reports include the previous period of the same length and the change per metric unless you ask otherwise.
- 4
Turn it into actions
The agent can link what it finds to the other jobs, for example pages with impressions but a low CTR are candidates for new meta.

Rules Grok follows
- Both tools are reads and run straight away.
- Connecting Google or choosing the GA4 property is done in the StoreSEO app; the agent hands you the link when it is missing.
- Numbers are reported as Google returns them; the agent does not project outcomes from them.
In Grok
xAI's connector documentation does not describe a per-tool approval setting, but these two reports are reads, so the question of confirmation only matters once you move on to a write. On Grok Business and Enterprise a team admin must provision the connector in the cloud console before members can use it, so if the StoreSEO connector is missing from your chat, ask your admin first. Google must also be connected inside StoreSEO, and Grok cannot do that step from the chat.
What runs without asking. Reads such as SEO scores, store listings, settings and Google reports run straight away. Generating a preview spends AI credit but writes nothing, and StoreSEO tells the agent to say what a generation will cost before it runs one. Applying content, optimizing images, changing settings, publishing llms.txt or agents.md, writing a product description and deleting anything wait for your yes in the conversation. That yes is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock on the server, so your client's own tool-approval setting is the hard stop.
Questions
Can Grok connect my Google account to StoreSEO?
No. Connecting Search Console and Google Analytics, and choosing the GA4 property, happens in the StoreSEO app. When Google is not connected, the report tool returns a link telling you what to set up, and Grok can pass that on.
Do I need a paid StoreSEO plan to ask Grok for Google reports?
Yes. The reports need a paid StoreSEO plan with Google connected, and Analytics reports also need a GA4 property selected in the app. The pricing table shows the current plans.
Can the agent connect my Google account?
No. Connecting Search Console and Google Analytics, and choosing the GA4 property, is done in the StoreSEO app. If Google is not connected, the tool returns a link telling you what to set up.
Can these reports change anything?
No. Both Google tools are read-only. They never connect, configure or write anything in Google or in your store.
Which plan includes Google reports over MCP?
A paid StoreSEO plan with Google connected. Analytics reports also need a GA4 property selected in the app.
How far back can the agent look?
You can name any date range the report supports. When you do not, both tools default to the last 28 days and compare it with the 28 days before.
