How to Cancel Your Subscription Plan on StoreSEO?

StoreSEO allows you to pick from several subscription plans so that you can optimize your store’s products according to your requirements and get access to more advanced SEO features.

However, you can cancel your subscription plan on StoreSEO in a few simple steps if needed. We will cover these steps in this quick documentation.

If you have been using a paid StoreSEO plan and would like to stop your subscription, the cancellation is handled by downgrading your current plan to the Free plan.

This guide will walk you through the process of downgrading to the Free plan, which is the recommended approach if you still want access to StoreSEO’s basic SEO features at no cost.

Note: Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle. Your store data and previously optimized products will be adjusted according to the limits of the Free plan once the downgrade is processed.

Step 1: Open StoreSEO & Go to Plans & Add-ons

Log in to your Shopify Admin and open the StoreSEO app from the left sidebar under Apps. Once inside the StoreSEO dashboard, look for the Plans & Add-ons option in the left navigation menu and click on it.

The Plans & Add-ons page shows all available subscription tiers including Lite, Essential, Growth, Advanced, and Free. Your currently active plan will be highlighted with a Current Plan badge so you can identify it at a glance.

The store is currently on the Lite plan at $14.99/month, which is highlighted with a red border for reference. The Plans & Add-ons menu item in the left sidebar is also highlighted to show exactly where to navigate.

Step 2: Scroll Down And Locate the Free Plan

On the Plans & Add-ons page, scroll down past the paid plan cards. You will find the Free plan section listed separately below the paid tiers. The Free plan is labeled as a “Limited time” offer and is completely free at $0.00.

The Free plan includes:

  • Up to 25 products (onetime)
  • Optimize 25 images (onetime)
  • 200 AI content credits (onetime)
  • 5 Keywords Rank Tracking

Click the Subscribe now button next to the Free plan. An arrow indicator in the screenshot below points to this button to help you locate it quickly.

The screenshot above shows the Free plan highlighted with a red border, confirming this is the plan you need to select to downgrade. The red arrow points to the Subscribe now button you need to click to initiate the downgrade process.

Step 3: Review the Checkout Details And Confirm the Downgrade

After clicking Subscribe now on the Free plan, a Checkout: Free popup window will appear on your screen. This window displays the full pricing details for the plan you are switching to, so you can review everything before confirming.

The checkout summary will show:

  • Plan Name: Free
  • Plan Price: $0.00
  • Sub Total: $0.00
  • Total: $0.00

The checkout popup also displays a What you’ll get section that outlines the features included with the Free plan, such as optimizing 25 products, 25 images, 200 AI credits and 5 Keywords Rank Tracking.

Note: Pay close attention to the warning message at the bottom of the popup: ‘You’re about to downgrade your current subscription. Your store data will be deleted according to the new plan.’ This means products and optimizations that exceed the Free plan’s limits may be removed. Make sure to back up any important SEO data before confirming.

Once you have reviewed all the details, click the Subscribe now button at the bottom right of the popup to complete the downgrade. The red arrow in the screenshot below points directly to this button.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be charged after downgrading to the Free plan?

No. Once you switch to the Free plan, your billing will stop at the end of your current billing period. You will not be charged for the next cycle.

What happens to my SEO data when I cancel?

Some of your optimized product data may be removed if it exceeds the Free plan’s limits (25 products and 25 images). It is recommended to export or take note of any critical SEO configurations before downgrading.

Can I re-subscribe to a paid plan after cancelling?

Yes. You can re-subscribe to any paid plan at any time from the Plans & Add-ons page inside StoreSEO. Your account will be updated immediately upon subscribing.

What is the difference between downgrading and uninstalling?

Downgrading to the Free plan cancels your paid subscription but keeps StoreSEO installed and accessible with limited features. Uninstalling the app removes StoreSEO completely from your store, including all configurations and optimizations.
